    Let me first begin by saying that I find it remarkable that anyone would undermine the credibility of the apostle Paul and think they could pit the original apostles against Paul.

    On the contrary, the apostle Peter endorsed Paul by referring to him as “our beloved brother” and described Paul’s letters as both “wisdom from God” and “scripture.” ~ 2 Peter 3:15-17

    Luke, who wasn’t an apostle, but a follower of Christ and the author of two New Testament books (Luke and Acts) highlights the ministries of both Peter and Paul. In Acts, Luke gives a detailed account Paul’s conversion, personal commission by Jesus, and his being separated by the Holy Spirit for the work to which God had called him.

    Remember that it was Luke, not Paul, who documented Paul’s conversion, commission from Jesus, and Paul’s gospel which absolutely included repentance.  

    We also know from the Book of Acts that most if not all of the original Apostles were headquartered out of Jerusalem (ex Acts 8:1, 14, 25). In Acts 1 Paul and Barnabas went to Jerusalem and were received by the church, and by the apostles, and by the elders.

    And when they (Paul and Barnabas) were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them. ~ Acts 15:4 

    Notice that Paul along with Barnabas was received by (1) the church, (2) the apostles, and (3) the elders in Acts 15. James and Peter were among the apostles who received Paul and Barnabas when they arrived at Jerusalem. 

    The purpose for this meeting was to settle the question as to whether or not the gentiles who believed in Jesus were obligated to be circumcised and come under the Law of Moses. Not only did Paul and Barnabas testify of what God had done among the gentiles (without the law), but Peter did as well. 

    After James gave his counsel, the church, elders, and the apostles placed their stamp of approval on the gospel Paul and Barnabas were preaching by sending representatives and a letter to the gentiles endorsing  Paul and Barnabas. 

    Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren: And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia. Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment…

    Notice that the original apostles gave no such commandment that the gentiles had to keep the law.

    Let’s continue: 

    It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Notice that Paul, along with Barnabas are referred to as “beloved” by the elders, the church, and original apostles that were present. 

    We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. ~ See Acts 15:22-29

    Now with regards to Paul’s letters. Anyone who claims that Paul’s letters lack repentance, simply aren’t reading what Paul says. 

    In 1 Corinthians 5:1-2, Paul confronts the Corinthians for the sin of fornication in their midst.

    It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. ~1 Corinthians 5:1-2

    Paul’s rebuke of the Corinthians moved them to repentance. In 2 Corinthians 7, Paul says the following to them:

    For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. ~ 2 Corinthians 7:8-11

    Paul later expresses his concern about the lack of repentance of some among them.

    For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:20-21

    If Paul did not preach repentance, why did he rebuke the Corinthians for allowing fornication in their midst, and why would he bewail those who had not repented of the sins mentioned in the text above. 

    Paul did not preach a gospel void of repentance, nor did he teach doctrine void of repentance. In his letter to Titus Paul says the following:

    For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. ~ Titus 2:11-15

    Notice that Paul tells Titus that the saving grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts by living soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

    Would these words of Paul be consistent with the message of repentance or in opposition to repentance? I think we all know it is consistent with repentance. 

    Consider also the following texts with the question in mind, are these words consistent with repentance or in opposition?

    If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. ~ Ephesians 4:21-32

    But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. ~ Ephesians 5: 3-13

    Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him… ~ Colossians 3:5-10

    For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his Holy Spirit. ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

I just finished reading through your lengthy post on Israel and New Testament Doctrine, which I found both confirming and enlightening. I intend on reading through it once again.
