JERUSALEM MISSED THE TIME OF HER VISITATION

And when he was come near, he beheld THE CITY, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now THEY ARE HID FROM THINE EYES. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; BECAUSE THOU KNEWEST NOT THE TIME OF THY VISITATION. (Luke 19:41-44).

Jesus looked upon Jerusalem and wept over it because she had missed the time of her visitation. Her desolation was near and her end would be final.

Historical Jerusalem has been put away as an unfaithful and adulterous woman and God has taken a new bride, New Jerusalem, the heavenly city (full of the followers of Jesus) is the Lamb’s wife, the holy bride.

And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee THE BRIDE, THE LAMB’S WIFE. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, THE HOLY JERUSALEM, descending out of heaven from God (Revelation 21:9-10).
